A hidden gem, MuSa is nestled in the flatlands surrounding Modena rendered famous for fast cars and slow food.
It is a unique place where modernity and history harmoniously coexist, enchanting our visitor with the discovery of historical craftsmanship and learning of current production methods. MuSa offers a sensory and multimedia tour set up in 10 stations that explain Italian charcuterie making, an art that has been passed on from generation to generation and is appreciated all around the world.
The tour guide begins the journey by explaining the composition of spices and herbs of various recipes, cuts of meat used, and different professions employed in charcuterie making; then continues down to the “cantina” or cellar where Prosciutto di Parma and San Daniele are exposed.
And here, you discover the secret ingredient for cured prosciutto: time. Then on the second floor, the art of trussing is demonstrated followed by a tale of Villani’s 130 year history. At the end of the journey, a Villani gift bag leaves you with a memory of a truly Emilian experience.
