Villa Delfini, built in 1777 in Disvetro di Cavezzo, is an elegant historic residence linked to the renowned Delfini family, whose most famous member was the poet and writer Antonio Delfini (1907–1963). Set within a large agricultural estate, the villa preserves the typical layout of the Po Valley farmsteads, with stables, workers’ houses, and rural buildings that illustrate the farming and economic life of the 19th century. Lambrusco wine and Balsamic Vinegar were produced on the Delfini estate, along with other traditional crops such as sugar beets, wheat, corn, and alfalfa. It is therefore not just a villa, but rather a Corte Chiusa—a closed farmstead designed to manage a large agricultural enterprise, where the villa was inhabited during the summer and harvest season, when the owners and their families would spend periods of rest and leisure.

Villa Delfini was also a place of literary inspiration for Antonio Delfini. The writer spent part of his childhood and adolescence here, and later returned with his mother and sister after the sale of the family palace in Modena, finding in this place continuous inspiration for his stories. Today, owned by the Bencivenni family of Carpi and restored after the 2012 earthquake, the villa has become a fascinating venue for visits, cultural events, and artistic activities.

The guided tour will focus on the history of the villa and its original owners, the Delfini family, with particular attention to Antonio Delfini, the distinguished Modenese writer who spent part of his life here. Weather permitting, the itinerary will also include a walk through the villa’s evocative park.
