Next to the apse of the Cathedral, with its 89.32 meters, the Ghirlandina tower, the symbol of the city of Modena, projects upwards. The Ghirlandina was baptized by the Modenese with this nickname for the double round of balustrades that crown the spire, “as graceful as garlands”.
